What Aspirations Advocates
Do

    have lunch with their students and just spend time     talking with them.
  . go to recess with students and help students organize games.  During indoor recess they may play games with the students or help them get caught up in work.
  . send postcards to their students at school just to say "hi."
  . help students organize and catch up with missing homework assignments.
  . sit in class during a lesson and help when needed.
  . may be a guest reader and read a book to the class.
  . attend field trips with their students.
  . write journals back and forth to their students.
  . are a friend to their students.
  . do activities that promote students' aspirations.
  . help students set goals for themselves.
  . help their students get involved in school activities and events.
  . attend gym or art class with their students.
  . support students in studying and preparing for tests or stressful times at school.
  . remember when the students had an important baseball game or activity in his or her life. Ask how the game went and really listen.
  . introduce their students to adults in the building they may not know.
  . encourage positive playground, lunchroom, and hallway behaviour.
  . promote appropriate behaviour and student interaction.
