We are happy to announce that Healthy Bites will continue to serve lunches for the 2011/12 school year and we are expanding from 3 to 4 days per week! It is our mission to offer fresh, nutritious lunches, which reflect the values and tastes of our community and follow Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating. We welcome all students, regardless of food restrictions, allergies, or just plain old pickiness! Subsidies are available upon request.

You may sign up for three days per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) for $33/month, or for four days per week (the addition of Mondays which offers a bagged lunch for students) for
$44/month.

Healthy Bites is a nutritious, hot lunch program which is run by volunteers and school parents, with assistance from Toronto Partners for Student Nutrition and Toronto Foundation for Student Success.

Lunches consist of a salad bar, with a minimum of 5 raw vegetables, a salad, and 3 types of raw fruit, as well as an entree which includes a choice of either animal or vegetarian protein and a source of whole grains.

Please contact Program Co-ordinators Lisa Truant-Tan and Jennifer Hara at healthybites@johnenglish.ca for more information, or to register or volunteer for the program.

Call for Volunteers to pick up bread:

Healthy Bites needs your help finding volunteers to help with picking up the Cobs bread donation. SO far three volunteers have taken on this job, but they can't manage to fill the schedule so we need more help!

The commitment is to pick up the "day olds" from Cobs at Humbertown Shopping Centre (Royal York & Dundas) once per month. This has to be done on Sunday evenings just before 6:00 p.m. The bread then has to be delivered to the school on Monday morning.

Interested volunteers should contact healthybites@johnenglish.ca
